About Empowerher

More and more women play sport, but far fewer organise it, coordinate it or make decisions about it. This gap is especially visible in rural areas. Grassroots sport there depends heavily on volunteers, there are few female role models in leadership, and balancing care responsibilities with organisational work is a real challenge. In Spain, 63.1% of men practise sport every year, compared to 51.8% of women, and the gap is even wider when it comes to who leads.

Often it’s not a lack of will. Informal ways of organising, unclear procedures and the expectation of “always being available” quietly keep talented women out of coordination roles.

EMPOWERHER is an Erasmus+ staff mobility project in the field of sport. Through job shadowing and hands-on learning with experienced European organisations, our team will learn how to put gender equality into everyday sports management. That means fair distribution of roles, transparent procedures, inclusive scheduling, digital tools that make participation easier, and simple sustainable practices. Back home, we’ll turn what we learn into real changes in our organisation and our rural community.

  • This training is for you if:

    • You’re a youth worker or youth leader and want to learn more about inclusion

    • You’re 20 or older

    • You can communicate in English (it doesn’t have to be perfect)

    • You’re ready to put what you learn into practice in your work

    • You’re willing to share what you’ve learned with others in your organisation

    • You can commit to the tasks before and after the training

Profile of Participants:

Take some time to think about these questions as a starting point for the work we’ll do together:

  • What do disability and inclusion mean to you? How could they make a difference for young people in your community?

  • What would you like to take home from this training? Think about skills or knowledge that could help you in your work or make your organisation stronger.

  • Have you ever tried to make an activity more inclusive? What challenges did you come across, and what do you think could help?
