Our activities in Mozambique
Since June 2026, Euro Mirada has been working with local communities in Mozambique: supporting the only primary school on Ilha de Inhambane and running a cooperation module with International Relations students at Universidade Joaquim Chissano in Maputo.
First visit to Ilha de Inhambane
In June 2026, our president Isabel Atienza, together with collaborators Franka Fuchs and Ancilla Avas, visited Ilha de Inhambane to get to know the community first-hand. There they met Dércio, a teacher at the island's only primary school, which has 120 pupils from 1st to 6th grade and 7 teachers. The visit showed us a clear need: the school lacked basic school supplies.

The delivery included notebooks, paper, pens, pencils, erasers, rulers, sharpeners, markers, chalk and pencil cases. The requested paper was fully covered, and the number of pencils and erasers went beyond what the school asked for. Our next step is already committed: a second delivery with 120 school backpacks, 120 uniforms and the remaining materials.

First donation to the island's primary school
After the visit, we launched a solidarity campaign in Fuentes de Andalucía with the support of the town council, running through June and July 2026. The materials collected were taken to Maputo and, at the start of the third school term, delivered to the school on 3 and 5 September by Isabel Atienza and María da Paz.

Cooperación cultural y educacional · Universidad Joaquim Chissano
Session 1 · Online · 6 October. International Relations students from ESRI, at Universidade Joaquim Chissano, explored what Erasmus+ offers in Mozambique. Each group researched one programme and presented it to the class: university mobility (KA171), capacity building for universities (CBHE), capacity building for youth organisations (CB Youth) and virtual exchanges.
Session 2 · In person · 8 October. At Universidade Joaquim Chissano, second-year International Relations students looked at the calls and project types they were most interested in. They then split into groups and started drafting their own proposals for Virtual Exchanges and Capacity Building in Youth projects.
